As an artist, I have been fortunate to have had guidance and support from patient and insightful mentors throughout my academic and personal life. With their expertise and my own passion for creating, I have found my own voice as an artist and become inspired to teach others.

At the core of my teaching philosophy is the belief that every student, regardless of age, has a need for self-expression through various mediums. In order for this to happen, I strive to create a safe and non-judgmental environment in my classroom that encourages experimentation and self-discovery. While I embrace the freedom of fine art, I also believe in establishing a strong foundation in art education, much like an alphabet is necessary to learn any language.

Once these fundamentals are in place, I am able to assume my role as a coach, mentor, peer, and yes, even critic. I can guide my students towards positive behaviors and discourage negative ones. I can share my own ideas and experiences and detect where each student's strengths and potential lie in their artistic journey.

Raised in a multicultural environment in Teaneck, NJ, I have always possessed a passion for art and drawing. I have earned certificates in painting and drawing from Project Oren in Israel and received my BFA from West Virginia University. As an Art Director and Instructor, I have created various art curriculums for children and adults. My paintings have been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in the United States and abroad.

Currently, I am a full-time Teaching Artist faculty member at SAR Academy in Riverdale, NY, where I instruct students from K-8 in traditional and digital 2D painting and drawing, with an emphasis on the fundamentals of art. My program leverages technology to encourage exploration and expression digitally with iPads. My curriculum includes both traditional and digital painting,  life drawing, perspective drawing, portraits, landscapes and Graffiti.
